Inge Flinte
Inge is an abstract artist, living in Australia but originally from New Zealand, who explores home, displacement, and belonging. Drawing from her history as the daughter of immigrants, she translates the marks, shadows, and textures of the spaces she inhabits onto canvas.
Her practice is defined by environmental responsibility and the concept of Mono no Aware, the beauty in impermanence. Through a slow accumulation of eco-printing, cyanotype, and foraged pigments, she records the layered relationship between time and memory.
By walking the land and studying the seasonal shifts of local flora, Inge captures the residue of specific moments. Her work acknowledges the quiet inevitability of change, building a sense of home through deep observation.
"My practice is a conversation between my cross-cultural heritage and the shifting nature of belonging. By layering eco-printing, photography, and stitch, I try to map the spaces where we feel most rooted, even when we are in motion. It is a slow-making process, a way to pause and find stillness in the ephemeral transitions of life."
